This work is built on the contrast between the geometric order of a modular steel structure and the formless mass of a sand dune that runs through it floating in space.

The installation works as a portrait of a specific moment in the moods of the country (spain now) seen from abroad, and is born out of the bittersweet feeling that the artist has when returns to his original landscape, specifically: the economic situation, the aftermath of a moment euphoria, the building of its image and stereotypes, and lack of direction and inability to reinvent his identity. That is a made making a parallel, in the installation and the accompanying blog, between economic performance and behavior of the dunes:

As a solid made of minimum particles the dune behaves like a liquid, just like money. How do you put a fence to the dunes? The dunes are natural phenomena in movement and difficult to control. In macroeconomic terms, the dunes are invasive. In microeconomic terms, the particles of sand slip through all the cracks. How to prevent desertification?

This installation belongs to a series of works that use the same metallic structure, exploring its constructive possibilities for articulating language, and that aim as a whole to a structural analysis of the functioning of sculpture vocabulary.
